Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an oxidized carboxymethylmannoglucan-doxorubicin complex capable of providing an excellent delay in elimination rate in blood and cancerous tissue directing properties by supporting doxorubicin which is an anticancer agent on an oxidized carboxymethylmannoglucan.
CONSTITUTION: The complex is composed of a unit expressed by formulas I and/or II [R1 to R6 are H or CH2COOH; W1 and W2 are =O or doxorubicin residue; A1 to A4 are formula III or IV (Xi1 to Xi6 are R1; Wi1 and Wi2 are W1, provided that (i) is 1-4], etc., with the proviso that all the A1 and A2 do not denote formula III} and its salt. Furthermore, this complex is preferably obtained by a method for reacting oxidized carboxymethylmannoglucan with doxorubicin hydrochloride in a mixture solution of a boric acid buffer solution (pH 8)-ethanol. The oxidized carboxymethylmannoglucan is obtained by, e.g. oxidizing carboxymethylmannoglucan with periodic acid, etc., and opening the ring.
