Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxidizer for efficient production of 1,4-benzoquinone compounds which are quite useful as synthetic intermediates for medicines and agrochemicals.SOLUTION: 1,4-Benzoquinone compounds of formula (A) are produced from corresponding alkoxybenzene compounds or phenol compounds by using an oxidizer comprising a 2-6C carboxylate ester compound, hydrogen peroxide and an acid in an acid amount equal to or smaller than the equivalent of the substrate. In the formula (A), Rto Rare a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkoxyl group and/or a phenyl group. A solid acid is used as the acid.
