PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide oxocarbon-based compounds that can effectively absorb light rays in a wavelength range of around 800 nm, resin compositions containing such compounds and an optical filter that can effectively cut light rays in a wavelength range of around 800 nm.SOLUTION: An oxocarbon-based compound whose structural unit represented by formula (3) has a structure combined with a squarylium skeleton or a croconium skeleton.
