Abstract:

To provide a novel oxychlorination catalyst for producing 1,2-dichloroethane useful as a raw material for a vinyl chloride monomer safely and with high activity from ethylene, and a production method of 1,2-dichloroethane using the same.SOLUTION: An oxychlorination catalyst carries at least copper chloride and a chloride of a first group element on the periodic table on an aluminum support, has a hollow cylindrical shape, has pores having a pore diameter in a range of 3-less than 15 nm and pores having a pore diameter in a range of 15-50 nm, and a pore volume of pores of 3-less than 15 nm is 0.21 cm3/g or more and 0.40 cm3/g or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
