To obtain a new oxyiminoalkanoic acid derivative having excellent hypoglycemic and blood liquid depressing effects, therefore useful as a preventive/therapeutic agent for e.g. diabetes, hyperilipemia, glucose tolerance insufficiency, inflammatory diseases.
This new compound is shown by the formula [R1 is a (substituted) hydrocarbon or the like; X is a lone pair, -CO or the like; (n) is 1-3; Y is O, S or the like; ring A is benzene ring; (p) is 1-8; R2 is H, a (substituted) hydrocarbon or the like; (q') is 0-6; (m) is 0 or 1; R3 is hydroxyl or the like; R4 and R5 are each H or a substituted) hydrocarbon], e.g. Z-2-[4-(5- methyl-2-phenyl-4-oxazolylmethoxy)benzyloxyimino]-2-phenylacetic acid. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, by reaction 4-(5-methyl-2- phenyl-4-oxazolylmethoxy)benzyl alcohol with methyl Z-2-hydroxyimino-2- phenylacetate in the presence of an organophosphorus compound and an electrophilic agent in a solvent.
