PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensively producible ozone generating element of a space gap type capable of generating ozone at a low voltage.

CONSTITUTION: An ozone generating element 10 comprises a discharge electrode plate 11 composed of a metal flat plate having a thin belt part 11b for forming a discharge electrode and a frame part, a facial induction electrode 18 and a recessed case 24 made of a ceramic formed to have 0.1mm to 0.3mm difference in level between the top part and a depressed part. The frame part of the discharge electrode plate 11 is fixed to the top part of the recessed part of the case 24 and the induction electrode 18 is embedded below the depressed part of the recessed part.
