Abstract:
To provide a configuration and a method in a PON system, for allowing an apparatus that aggregates subscriber lines to be miniaturized and allow for communication between the apparatus and a higher-level device.SOLUTION: A PON station side device 3 includes: a relay apparatus 11 configured to be able to perform layer-2 communication; and a subscriber line aggregation apparatus 12 that is detachably attached to the relay apparatus 11, and is configured to aggregate subscriber lines and hold information on a subscriber terminal device connected to the subscriber lines. The relay apparatus 11 is configured to receive IP packets addressed to the subscriber line aggregation apparatus 12 through an IP network, decapsulate the received IP packets to generate frames, and transfer the frames to the subscriber line aggregation apparatus 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
