Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the after image of a photoelectric converter by changing the inter-terminal voltage of a photodiode during the duration period of a reset pulse signal for resetting a storage charge inputted to a switching element. CONSTITUTION:When resetting the storage charge, the inter-terminal voltage of the photodiode is set (a reset A) by a pulse width shorter than a reset pulse width so as to impress a reverse bias bigger than storage initial voltage, next the photodiode is set (a reset B) at a storage initial voltage V0. That is, at the reset A, a depletion layer is widened until the position of the depletion layer end, and at the reset B, an effective electric field exists even at the position of the depletion layer end. Therefore, the trapped electric charge in the vicinity of the depletion layer end is emitted quickly. Thus, the after image is reduced drastically.
