Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent excessive shaving in the vicinity of a coplanar boundary by interpolating data on offset curved surfaces expressing the moving points of tools on the coplanar boundary where conditions for the continuity of adjacent planes do not hold. CONSTITUTION:If 1st and 2nd patches S(u,v)1 and S(u,v)2 are connected through the coplanar boundary COM without the conditions for the continuity of adjacent planes met, a discontinuous space where no data on offset curved surfaces exists occurs between the 1st and 2nd offset curved surface data S(u,v)OFF1 and S(u,v)OFF2 corresponding to the patches S(u,v)1 and S(u,v)2. Based on the 1st offset curved surface data S(u,v)OFF1, intersection points Q0-Q5 between a plane formed with 1st vector n01-n51 which orthogonally intersect with the end of the discontinuous surface and point outside and a plane formed with 2nd vectors n02-n52 which are made up of normal vectors arising in points corresponding to the 2nd offset curved data S(u,v)OFF2, are obtained in the discontinuous space. Data on the intersection points Q0-Q5 is interpolated as the offset curved surface data.
