Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain ultrafine granular antimicrobial mildewproofing powder having excellent dispersibility, durability, heat resistance, water resistance, acid resistance and weathering resistance.

CONSTITUTION: Antimicrobial mildewproofing powder comprises hydrophilic inorganic powder subjected to surface treatment with a silane coupling agent type compound containing a guanidyl group and a hydrolyzable group (alkoxy group or halogen). The powder is used in blending a resin with the powder to provide a molded article of the resin with antimicrobial properties. In the case wherein the inorganic powder has transparency, UV rays screening ability and electrical conductivity, these functions are not damaged.
