PURPOSE: To provide a melamine resin prepreg or laminate comprising a web like fiber reinforcing material impregnated with a melamine resin.

CONSTITUTION: A web like fiber reinforcing material is impregnated with a melamine resin essentially consisting of 40-85 pts.wt. of at least a partially etherified melamine resin (a) obtained by reacting melamine, formaldehyde and a 1-8C alkanol in a melamine: formaldehyde: alkanol molar ratio of 1:(5-6):(4-6) and 60-15 pts.wt. of diol consisting of at least 25-75 wt.% of a polyester diol and/or polyether dlol with a mol.wt. of 400 g/mol and 75-25 wt.% of a 2-12C low mol.wt. dial and, according to circumstances, the prepreg obtained during impregnation is partially or perfectly cured.
