Title:
STERILIZATION METHOD FOR ENZYME FILM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0783870
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To destroy various bacteria without losing the activity of an enzyme, while causing no increase in the cost of a device, by specifying a thermal treatment condition to destroy bacteria live at normal temperature.

CONSTITUTION: A glucose bio sensor 11 having an enzyme film of glucose oxidase fixed to a flat type oxygen electrode, is immersed in sterilizing water 13 contained in a flask 12 and, then, this flask 12 is placed in a water bath 15. A heater 17 is turned on to heat the bath 15 and the flask 12 internally. In order to keep temperature uniform in the bath 15, water therein is agitated with a stirrer 16. The temperature of the water 13 is measured with a thermometer 14. Then, a thermal treatment process is performed in the sterilizing condition of 65°C and 30 minutes. As a result, responsiveness to glucose is approximately equivalent to a case before the thermal treatment process and, therefore, the number of live bacteria on the surface of the sensor 11 can be reduced to approximately 1/100 or less. Also, even when the sterilizing condition is taken as 72°C and 15 seconds, a similar result can be obtained.
