To provide a hygienic and safe pacifier.

The pacifier is provided with the body 1 thereof and a protective cover 2 outside the body 1. The body 1 of the pacifier has a nipple part 11 at one end thereof and a stopper ring 12 at the other end thereof. The protective cover 2 is fitted in with the outside of the stopper ring 12 to cover the nipple part 11. The protective cover 2 is made in a tubular structure hollow inside and has a hole formed piercing both sides thereof. Moreover, in the protective cover 2, a compression part 21 with one or more stages is fitted in with the end part on the side of the stopper ring thereof and a fitting part 23 is so formed as to be joined firmly with the body 1 of the pacifier. When the pacifier is not used, the compression part 21 is covered with the nipple part 11. Thus, when dropping, the pacifier is kept from touching the ground thereby making it hygienic and safe.
