Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a nonwoven web for absorbing and transporting a liquid capable of both interfiber and intrafiber liquid transportation.
CONSTITUTION: This nonwoven web for absorbing and transporting a liquid capable of both interfiber and intrafiber liquid transportation. The web is characterized as including shaped fibers and a high-absorbency material, making the shaped fibers define a notch, which notch defines an angle α so as to satisfy α<180°-2θ (θ is the contact angle between the liquid and the shaped fiber), keeping the high-absorbency liquid in a state of fluid communication with the nonwoven web in an area wherein intrafiber liquid transport occurs and subjecting the liquid applied to the web to both the interfiber and intrafiber liquid transport.
