In a package staying device 1, jump of a package P at an ejecting position T1 and movement thereof to a waiting position T2 are regulated by each package regulating stopper 5, and when the package P reaches the ejecting position T1 and during the waiting time, a detecting switch 7 can be always in the detecting condition. Consequently, wrong detection of the package P due to ON/OFF of the detecting switch 7 by jump of the package P at the detecting position T1 can be eliminated, and the detecting accuracy of the package P by the detecting switch 7 is improved, and the data processing of the package P can be securely carried out.
