To provide the subject rice using no additive such as preservative or antioxidant, having the similar flavor to that of just-boiled rice despite being processed boiled rice and also spouting neither water nor rice while heated with e.g. a microwave oven, and to provide a method for producing the rice.

This method for producing packaged frozen rice comprises soaking dry rice in water, soup, or a mixed liquid of water and soup in a heat- resistant container followed by freezing the resultant rice, and putting ingredients frozen separately from the frozen dry rice on the frozen dry rice followed by sealing the resultant rice with a packaging container for heating.
