PURPOSE: To provide a packaging device of a compact structure comprising a turntable arranging turning rollers at the upper surface thereof, and a packaging paper feeding device rotatbly supporting a packaging paper coil, thereby automating the packagigng of a large-size columnar article to be packaged.

CONSTITUTION: An article 6 to be packaged, a turntable 4 and a packaging paper coil 25 inserted into a coil support table 21 are respectively located and adjusted, and thereafter the leading end of the packaging paper is pasted to the end of a central hole 27 of the article to be packaged. Then, a motor 13 and a stageless transmission 18 are simultaneously operated to rotate the turntable 4 and a pair of rollers 17 in a direction indicated by arrow, the article 6 to be packaged is rotated in two directions with a central axis 23 and a vertical symmetric axis 24 as respective rotary axle, a packaging paper 26 of the packaging paper coil 25 is pulled out, constantly passing through the center of the end surface of the article to be packaged, and is wound around the article and the packaging paper 2 at nth turn is overlapped on a part of n-1 th turn of the packaging paper to form a parallel arrangement, thus packaging being completed by a half rotation of the article to be packag ed.
