To provide a packaging machine with a printer which drives a print roll in tune with feeding of a packaging material to avoid generation of expansion/contraction and flapping of the packaging material by inertia of the print roll regardless of occurrence of a fluctuation of a packaging material feeding speed, and attains clear and distortion-free printing of characters by the printer.

The printer 8 includes a print head 11 performing printing on a belt-shaped packaging material Gw, and a platen roller 10 rotating in contact with the packaging material on its peripheral surface to serve as a print receptacle. Since a servo motor 12 as a driving source rotates the platen roller 10 in synchronization with the packaging material feeding speed, progress of the belt-shaped packaging material Fw is stabilized with no generation of expansion/contraction and flapping of the belt-shaped packaging material Fw in a print unit which is caused by inertial rotation of the platen roller 10 regardless of occurrence of a fluctuation of the packaging material feeding speed to eliminate defective printing of the printer.
