The tire packaging apparatus for packaging tires in a stacked state comprises a positioning means, means (300, 301) for setting the tires in a compressed state and means (400-406) for arranging restraining means, and the positioning means comprises a set of positioning rollers (200, 201) provided rotatably around axes parallel to each other. Each roller can get into contact with each tread of the tire so as to stably retain the tire, and at least one of the rollers can turn all the tires around the rotational axes so as to form the stack of the tires each having an axis substantially aligned along the rotational axis.
