Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the transmission of a rear congestion notifying packet and to effectively use a network resource by transmitting the rear congestion notifying packet (cell) only when a transmission terminal receives a control packet (cell) which is circulated.
CONSTITUTION: When a packet congestion detection part 104 detects packet congestion caused in a packet exchange processing part 102 or an output line corresponding part 103, the occurrence of packet congestion is notified to a control packet extraction part 105. When the control packet extraction part 105 receives the notice of the occurrence of packet congestion, it extracts the control packet of a channel becoming a packet congestion notice object and notifies channel information to a rear congestion notifying packet insertion part 106. The rear congestion notifying packet insertion part 106 generates a rear congestion notifying packet based on notified channel information and inserts it into a packet stream in the direction of the transmission terminal. When packet congestion is detected in respective packet exchanges in such a case, the control packet is extracted and the control packet is not transmitted to the subsequent packet exchanges.
