PURPOSE: To provide a packing easily mountable on the external surface of a pipe body, and a mounting method therefor.
CONSTITUTION: A packing 1 to be mounted onto a ribbed pipe 2 comprises a rigid short pipe 10 and a packing body 11. Peripheral edge at one end of the rigid short pipe 10 is fixed to one shoulder section of the packing body 11. This packing body 11 is made reversible between mounting and non-mounting positions about the fixed section as a support point. For mounting the packing 1 onto the ribbed pipe 2, the packing body 11 is reversed to the non-mounting position and in this state, the ribbed pipe 2 is inserted along the internal surface of the rigid short pipe 10. Thereafter, the packing body 11 is reversed, thereby mounting the packing 1 onto a pipe body 20 between ribs 21.
