Title:
PACKING PROTECTING APPARATUS FOR TOTAL FLOW ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS56106007
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To keep the shaft sealing performance of a total flow engine for a long time, by providing a steam generator in a passage for feeding geothermal fluid to the total flow engine, and feeding flush steam produced by the steam generator to shaft sealing portions and other portions of the engine. CONSTITUTION:Geothermal fluid supplied from a geothermal well 1 is converted into flush steam in a steam generator 11 with a portion of the geothermal fluid being extracted to the outside. This flush steam is compressed to a predetermined pressure by a compressor 13 and then supplied via a steam pipe 12 to a shaft sealing portion (a) and a stage sealing portion (c), so that the spaces formed at the labyrinth packings of the sealing portions (a), (c) are filled with compressed flush steam. Therefore, while the rotor blades 8 and hence a shaft 10 of a total flow engine 3 is being rotated, it is prevented that foreign matter contained in the geothermal fluid comes into the labyrinth packings, so that required performance can be obtained at the sealing portions (a), (c).
