Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packing and a seal device capable of being used in a high temperature region, having high sealability, and preventing human error in mounting.SOLUTION: A packing 100 has an abacus-like appearance, and is provided with a triangular cavity DH inside thereof, in a state that its base is a line in parallel with an axis of a shaft body S of a stem and the like on a half cross-section to reduce a contact area with the shaft body S and to improve a contact face pressure at an end face 170 as a contact part with the shaft body S, and further made of a material including at least 99.8 wt.% of graphite or a material including at least 25.0 wt.% of vermiculite. Further a first intermediate packing 200 surrounding the packing 100 along the axis S, and a first back-up ring 300 composed of a material including at least 25.0 wt.% of vermiculite, are disposed as a seal device 1000 to make the packing 100 effectively function.
