Abstract:
PURPOSE:To heighten adhesive power and corrosion resistance, by performing nitriding treatment to make an anticorrosive compound layer on the surface of a backing metal, which is recessed and protruded by special work, in a pad for the disc brake of a vehicle, an industrial machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:Groove 3 perpendicular to the direction of frinction on a pad are manufactured on the surface of a backing metal 1 so that a recessed and protruded surface 2 is provided. A compound layer 4 is made of Fe-C-N as main constituents on the recessed and protruded surface 2 by nitriding treatment. A friction material 6 is bonded by an adhesive 5 and provided with pad fixing holes 7.
