Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the temperature of a bearing and heighten its load carrying capacity, by placing a rotary shaft together with pads having cooling gas holes, in the body of the bearing provided with a supply and a discharge holes for a cooling fluid. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pads 4 having cooling gas holes 6 are provided inside a bearing body 1 which has a supply hole 7 and a discharge hole 8 for a cooling fluid. A rotary shaft 10 is placed inside the pads 4 so that the shaft 10 can be supported. When the rotary shaft 10 rotates, the cooling fluid is supplied through the supply holes 7 and conducted under pressure to the cooling gas holes 6 of the pads 4 connected to each other by flexible tubes 9. Heat exchange is caused at the pads 4 to cool them uniformly. After the cooling, the fluid is caused to flow out through the discharge hole 8. Lubricating oil is forcedly supplied to the gap 11 between the rotary shaft 10 and each pad 4 through an oil supply hole 2 to prevent the pads 4 from being worn. The pads 4 are forcedly cooled by the cooling fluid. The results in reducing the temperature of a bearing metal and providing durability against heavy load.
