A passbook 12 is carried to a page turning position by rotating feed rollers 6a and 6b (a). A friction roller 1a is rotated in the direction A and at least internal sheets 12a and 12b of the passbook in contact with the friction roller 1a are raised off (b). The contact of a cam 3 with a swing arm 5 is broken off and the internal sheets 12a and 12b are held by the friction rollers 1a and 2a (c). While the internal sheet 12a is left held, the friction roller 1a is rotated in the direction B and thereby the internal sheet 12b alone is returned to the main body side of the passbook 12 (d). Then, the cam 3 rotates and the swing arm 5 is pushed up, while the internal sheet 12a alone is left on the friction roller 1a (e). The passbook 12 is carried by rotating the feed rollers 6a and 6b and one page alone is turned over (f).
