Title:
PAINT SLUDGE TREATMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3701461
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make dry powder suitable for reuse by mixing hardened powder made from paint sludge with the paint sludge, heating a mixture thereof to temperatures sufficient for evaporating water and volatile organic compounds in the paint sludge and for hardening paint resin and agitating the mixture during that heating.
SOLUTION: The prescribed quantity of hardened powder made from paint sludge is fed to a mixer 20, and wet paint sludge is conveyed to the mixer 20 by a sludge pump 28, for example, continuously. The blend of the hardened powder and the paint sludge is kept at the lowest temperatures at which water and volatile organic compounds present in the paint sludge are evaporated and paint resin is hardened. Vapor for heating the mixer 20 is filled into the mixer 20 from a heat exchanger 30 through a line 32 and is discharged from the mixer 20 through a line 34 and is recirculated to the heat exchanger 30 by a fan 35, and since a paddle in the mixer 20 provides good heat exchange, it is fed to the mixer 20 while the sludge is agitated.
