To provide a new method for developing anthocyanin-producing callus system using a cultured product of Indian carrot, Panax sikkimensis.
This callus system is the anthocyanin-producing callus system and comprises the followings; (a) a characteristic pink-purple pigment is formed, (b) the growing index is about 221-450 for about 50-80 days incubation period, (c) the anthocyanin yield from the callus is 2-3 mg/gf.wt. for about 40-60 days under a light-irradiating condition (continuous light) and (d) DNA has a characteristic profile, and includes that the lane 1-12 of each gel (upper gel in wild type and lower gel in anthocyanin-producing type) represents a PCR amplified fragment produced by each template mega-base genomic DNA each having a specified primer and a lane M represents a standard size marker of a ladder having 100 bp space from 1,000 bp downstream.
