To provide a panel conveying apparatus reliably holding a workpiece and conveying it to the next step.

The panel conveying apparatus includes: grips 8, 9 for holding the ends of the workpiece; an opening/closing mechanism 10 for opening/closing the grips 8, 9; and a supporting member which supports the grips 8, 9 and the opening/closing mechanism 10, conveys a panel to the next step and returns to its original position. The opening/closing mechanism 10 has a forcibly opening/closing device 14 for holding and releasing the workpiece by forcibly setting the grips 8, 9 in an opened/closed state by the advance/retraction of a driving means provided in the opening/closing mechanism 10. In the forcibly opening/closing device 14, a pushing tool 12 which is connected to the driving means and has its fore end being pointed in a triangular shape, and a forcibly returning part 13 which has a forcibly returning face opposite to a side face intersected in a triangular shape of the pushing tool and is provided on an end of an extension part extended in the vertical direction and orthogonal to a single side face of the fore end of the pushing tool in the longitudinal direction, are integrated with each other.
