To provide a paper coating latex excellent in fluidity, mechanical stability, water holding property, high-speed coating fitness, dry pick strength, wet pick strength, ink accepting property, printing gloss and white paper gloss, resistant to putrefaction and having excellent storage stability.
The paper coating latex comprises the combination of 100 pts.wt. (in terms of solid) of a carboxy-modified styrene-butadiene copolymer latex constituted with particles in which ≥50% the particles have particle sizes in the range of 50-150 nm, and at least ≥0.005 pt.wt. of 2-methyl-4- isothiazolin-3-one and at least ≥0.01 pt.wt. of an aliphatic nitroalcohol halide of the general formula (1) (wherein, R1 is H, a halogen, a 1-4C alkyl or a 1-4C alkoxyl; R2 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; and X is a halogen).
