Setting means of a paper conveyance device 10 compares a first time period showing a reception interval while pseudo-continuously receiving a second recording medium inserted by a paper insertion device 36, and a conveyance time period for conveying the second recording medium from a storage part storing the second recording medium of the paper insertion device 36 to a joining position for inserting the second recording medium into between first recording media, to set a longer time period as a second interval, sets the second interval as an insertion interval in the case that the total interval of the second interval and a first interval is equal to or more than a third time period showing a conveyance interval when the paper insertion device 36 continuously conveys the second recording medium, and sets as the insertion interval a value obtained by adding a difference between the third time period and the total interval to the second interval in the case that the total interval is less than the third time period. First conveyance control means controls first conveyance means so as to convey the fist recording medium by further separating an insertion interval in the first interval.
