To provide a paper diaper where a part of an excretory substance is prevented from being leaked from the upper end of a diaper body.
The diaper body 10 is formed by allowing an absorptive body 3 for absorbing and holding the excretory substance to be held between a liquid-impermeable back sheet 1 and a liquid-permeable top sheet 2. A cut 7 is arranged in the upper part of the top sheet 2 which is held between stereoscopic gather barrier traps 5 oppositely arranged on the inner surface of the diaper body 10 along the length direction, and the both ends of the cut 7 are respectively made to adhere onto the upper ends of the barrier traps 5. A non-adhesive area where the top sheet 2 is not made to adhere onto an absorptive body 3 is formed in the circumference of the cut 7, and a floating pocket 8 is formed by lifting up the cut 7 by the tension of expansible materials in the barrier traps 5. A part of the excretory substance to be moved to the upper part of the diaper body 10 is introduced into the pocket 8 so as to be absorbed and held by the absorptive body 3. Thus, the leak from the upper end of the diaper body 10 is suppressed.
