PURPOSE: To prevent errors in feeding from being generated due to backlash, by a method wherein a driving part is rotated forward by a designated feeding quantity at the time of forward feeding of a recording paper, and is rotated reversely in excess of a designated returning quantity and then rotated forward by the excess quantity at the time of reverse feeding.
CONSTITUTION: When a forward paper feeding command is inputted from a printer-controlling circuit 21 to a paper feed controlling circuit 25, a number of steps corresponding to a predetermined feeding quantity is outputted from the circuit 25 to a motor-driving circuit 28, thereby a stepping motor 17 is rotated forward by a predetermined quantity. Since a gearing mechanism is so constructed that gears contact each other in the forward direction with the backlash on the reverse direction side, the forward rotating quantity of the motor 17 and the paper feeding quantity coincide with each other. When a paper-returning command is received, the motor 17 is rotated reversely by a predetermined returning quantity pulse an excess quantity, and then it is rotated forward by the excess quantity. Accordingly, even when the backlash of the gearing mechanism varies widely from one article to another, errors in feeding can be securely eliminated, and high printing quality can be obtained.
