PURPOSE: To improve reliability for detecting paper jam and save touble and waste paper, in paper jam disposal by providing a paper feeding control means which once stops regist rollers regardless of output of the first paper detecting switch, when double feed condition, is determined and the second paper detecting switch does not detect any paper sheet.
CONSTITUTION: It is determined that paper sheets have been fed one by one, when a paper detecting signal is output from the first paper switch 61 within the fixed time, after the first paper detecting switch 61 is set ON and the regist rollers 42a, 42b are driven driving of resist rollers 42a, 42b is stopped, and the paper sheet are fed again. It is determined that paper jam condition has taken place unless the paper detecting signals are output from the first paper detecting switch 61 and the second paper detecting switch 62 even after the fixed time has passed. When the paper detecting signal is output from the second paper detecting switch 62 within the fixed time, it is determined that the paper sheets have been fed in duplication, the driving of the regist rollers 42a, 42b is stopped and the paper sheets are fed again.
