PURPOSE: To provide a paper feed device which can surely feed paper with a simple configuration.

CONSTITUTION: A paper feed device 1 is composed of fixed semicircular rollers 16a, 16c which are integrally rotated by a rotary shaft 22, and a freely rotatable semicircular roller 16b which is freely rotated with respect to the rotary shaft 22, these semicircular rollers 16 being coupled together by means of torque springs 29a, 20b, and the cord parts of the semicircular rollers 16 are aligned with each other in a normal condition. When the rotary roller 22 is rotated, the semicircular rollers 16 are also rotated so as to make contact with a sheet P. The rotation of the freely rotatable semicircular roller 16b is stopped but the rotation of the fixed semicircular rollers 16a, 16c are continued further. Thereafter, locking parts 30, 32 on the fixed semicircular rollers 16a, 16c are locked in locking recesses 38a, 38b on the freely rotatable semicircular roller 16b, and accordingly, the semicircular rollers 16 are integrally incorporated together so that they are rotated in the form of a circular roller.
