Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder and an image forming apparatus which prevent erroneous detection of the presence or absence of recording material when adjusting an interval between conveyance means and the uppermost surface of the recording material.SOLUTION: A paper feeder includes: storage means (101) which stores recording material while laminating the recording material; upper surface position detection means (107) which adjusts an interval between the uppermost surface of the recording material stored on the storage means (101) and conveyance means (110) which adsorbs and conveys the recording material; and recording material detection means (100) which detects the presence or absence of the recording material stored on the storage means (101) by means of a sensor having a prescribed detection region in the lamination direction of the recording material. The recording material detection means (100) has a plurality of sensors and has detection regions of the plurality of sensors respectively shifted in the lamination direction.
