To provide a paper feeder having stable paper feeding performance while taking countermeasures for outer force.
A paper feed tray 30 includes a tray body 31, a lift plate 32, and a housing 33. A lift mechanism 50 includes first and second lifting members 511, 512 arranged between a bottom plate 331 of the housing 33 and the lift plate 32 for abutting on the lift plate 32, a shaft member 52 on which the first and second lifting members 511, 512 are mounted, a lever member 53 mounted at one end of the shaft member 52, and first and second energizing springs 541, 542 for giving upward energizing force to the first and second lifting members 511, 512. When thrust against the energizing force is given to the lever member 53, the first and second lifting members 511, 512 are turned and then the lift plate 32 changes the attitude from a paper feeding attitude into an evacuating attitude.
