PURPOSE: To reduce deflectional distortion of a recorded image, by a method wherein a paper guide for rectilinearly feeding a recording paper is inclined to be perpendicular to the axis of flying of deflected ink droplets, in an ink jet printer.
CONSTITUTION: The recording paper 6 is inserted through an end 13b of a paper guide 13, is passed between a platen roller 11 and a pressure roller 14, is fed forwards along the platen roller 11 while being guided by the tip 13a of the guide 13, and after being discharged from the paper guide 12, it advances to discharging rollers 17a, 17b on the extension of the guide 12 due to its own strength. The paper guide 12 is located perpendicularly to an intermediate axis between an ink flight locus at the time of the maximum defletion and that at the time of the minimum deflection. Accordingly, within a predetermined range of deflection, the deflected ink droplets hit against the paper 6 substantially perpendicularly to a recording surface of the paper 6, so that the deflectional distortion is small.
