PURPOSE: To enable to widen the range of use, by a method wherein slidable blocks are provided at both ends of a recording paper, and are provided with a tractor function and a mechanism for feeding by an ordinary driving roller, in a printer wherein various kinds of papers are used.

CONSTITUTION: When the paper is a continuous paper provided with feeding holes, the slidable blocks 30a, 30b are moved along a driving shaft 27 and a guide shaft 28 so that pins 31a of belts 31 are engaged into the feeding holes of the paper, and the blocks are fixed at those positions. After setting the paper, a press member 35 is fitted, both end parts of the paper is pressed at parts C, and the right end of a lever 37 is depressed downward so that a pinch roller does not act on the continuous paper. On the other hand, when rolled paper or a slip paper is used, the slidable blocks 30a, 30b are so set that both end edge parts of the paper are located B on the driving rollers 33, the pinch rollers 38 are pressed against the driving rollers 39 by spring forces while not locking the levers 37, and the paper is fed by rotating the driving shaft 27.
