Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-forming unit of a paper machine, capable of being changed over between a structure suitable for making thin paper at a high speed and the other structure suitable for making thick paper.
SOLUTION: This paper-forming unit of the paper machine is used for supplying a paper raw material S onto a wire-screen belt 2 from a headbox 1, then transporting the material with the wire-screen belt 2 and simultaneously dewatering the material with dewaterers 5, and further dewatering the material with a suction box 6. A forming roll 13 which is overhung with a felt blanket 7 extended from an area over the suction box 6 is located near to the headbox 1 above the wire-screen belt 2 so as to be ascendible and descendible. When the thin paper is made, the forming roll 13 is descended and made to form a nip between the wire-screen belt 2 and the felt blanket 7, so that the paper raw material S supplied from the headbox 1 is rather soon nipped between the wire-screen belt 2 and the felt blanket 7.
