PURPOSE: To enable a paper to be easily inserted, by providing a special paper guide so that the paper can be inserted from the front side of a printer.

CONSTITUTION: When a paper 11 is clamped by a feeding roller 3 and a pressure roller 4 and a paper guide 1 is pushed in the direction of an arrow, a pinion 7 is moved on a rack 6, the rotating force thereof is transmitted to a feeding gear 19 and a pressure gear 20 through an idle gear 8 to rotate the rollers 3, 4, and the paper 11 is thereby fed out in the direction of an arrow along a paper guide 3. When the paper guide 1 is pushed in to a certain degree, the paper 11 is fed into a printer 16 through a part between guide plates 9a, 9b while changing its direction from a horizontal direction to a vertical direction. When the leading end of the paper 11 is detected by a sensor 12, a feeding roller 13 is rotated to feed the paper toward the platen 18.
