Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a temporary gap between pages when turning the page in normal and reverse directions.
SOLUTION: This paper leaf separating mechanism consists of a columnar shaft 1, a first member (separating roller (small) 2) which is fixed to the shaft 1 and is rotated with the shaft 1 to bring a symmetrical protrusion 2a into contact with a paper leaf 6 and thereby push it out and a second member (separating roller (large) 3) which is installed on the shaft 1 in freely rotating manner and brings a symmetrical protrusion 3a making a larger circle than does the protrusion 2a of the separating roller (small) 2 into contact with the paper leaf 6 and thereby push it out. In addition, a groove 5 which makes an arc centered around the shaft 1 is provided in either of the separating roller (small) 2 or the separating roller (large) 3. On the other hand, a pin 4 which is loosely engaged with the groove 5 is provided on the other. In this case, the separating roller (large) 3 is rotated in such a manner that its rotation is slower than that of the separating roller (small) 2 by a shift in the engagement between the pin 4 and the groove 5 at the time of the rotation of the shaft 1 in whichever direction. Thus a temporary gap is created between the paper leaf with which both separating roller (small) 2 and separating roller (large) 3 come into contact and a following paper leaf.
