To provide sufficient crease removing and sterilizing effects corresponding to the state of an environment outside equipment by performing sterilization and crease removal while changing the speed and temperature of a heating sterilizing part corresponding to the information of an external temperature.

The current external temperature is detected by a sensor 7 for external temperature detection and compared with an external temperature memory value for discrimination set before. Based on that detected external temperature, while referring to a conveyance speed/sterilization temperature table list set in a memory 19 for external state discrimination, the conveyance speed value and sterilization temperature value corresponding to this table list are extracted. Corresponding to the extracted conveyance speed value, the change of conveyance speed is set to a paper money conveying mechanism 14 and a heating roller driving mechanism 18, and the conveyance speed of a paper money conveyer path 4 is changed. When the sterilization temperature set at present is lower than the extracted sterilization temperature, a heating heater is turned on by a heater ON/OFF part 16. When the current sterilization temperature is higher than a temperature to be set this time, heating is not performed.
