Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a simple and inexpensive paper-positioning mechanism in a small-sized scanner.
CONSTITUTION: A carriage 20 is movably attached inside a frame assembly 15, scanning movement from a fixed position to a scanning end position in the scanning route of a first direction along the length of the frame assembly is possible. At least one paper carrying route is provided, and at least one positioning roller 35 is attached to a rotary shaft so as to position a paper in the route is provided. Further, a toggle frame for supporting at least one idler roller 46 for forming a paper-carrying nip between the positioning roller on one end part and supporting at least one paper positioning gate 60 on the other end part is provided. The toggle frame is turnably attached, so as to form the paper-carrying nip or advance the form positioning gate into the paper carrying route, a scanning carriage operates the frame at the time of being positioned at or near the fixed position, and the positioning gate is advanced into the paper-carrying route.
