To easily take out paper sheets in respective paper discharge trays without providing a useless space by enlarging the moving distance of the lowermost-stage discharge tray out of the discharge trays and by reducing the moving distance of the uppermost-stage discharge tray.
The relation among the respective vertical moving distances 65D, 65M, 65U of paper discharge trays 3D, 3M, 3U is set to 65D>65M>65U. The moving distance 65U of the discharge tray 3U, the moving distance 65M of the discharge tray 3M, and the moving distance 65D of the discharge tray 3D are decided by the positions of sensors S4, S7, sensors S4', S7', and sensors S4", S7" respectively. The enlargement in the moving distance of the lowermost- stage discharge tray 3D means that the lower limit level of the discharge tray 3D cannot be positioned lower than the floor level and that the height of a discharge port 60D of a finisher 51D is shifted upward or the upper limit position of the discharge tray 3D is shifted upward so that the level of the paper sheets is in a high position when the paper sheets are taken out to eliminate a user from stooping in taking them out. The reduction in the moving distance of the uppermost stage discharge tray 3U reduces the position of the paper discharge port 60U.
