There is provided a paper processing device which comprises: a compile stacking unit 35; an eject roll 39 for conveying a paper bundle in a third traveling direction S3; and a stapleless binding mechanism 150 which forms a cutting edge and a tongue portion and binds the paper bundle so that a tip of the tongue portion is inserted into the cutting edge and the tip is at a downstream side in the third traveling direction S3 from the root. In addition, the paper processing device comprises: drive mechanisms 151a, 151b which retracts the stapleless binding mechanism 150 from a conveyance path of the paper bundle in a direction crossing the third traveling direction S3 after the paper bundle bound by the stapleless binding mechanism 150 is conveyed by the eject roll 39 in a second traveling direction S2; and a stacking part 70 for conveying and stacking the paper bundle after the stapleless binding mechanism 150 is retracted.
