1. Web-fed rotary offset printing machine having several printing units arranged one behind the other, in which respectively a printing material web (5) has ink applied on both sides, and an insert printing unit (1, 2, 3, 4, 10) with an auxiliary drive (15), in which one plate cylinder/rubber-blanket cylinder pair (e.g. 1, 2) for plate exchange can be stopped and the other (e. g. 3, 4) can be engaged on a common rotating impression cylinder (5), characterised in that one printing unit can be operated in the recto-verso print mode and as an insert printing unit, in that in the recto-verso print mode the impression cylinder (10) is used as a paper guide roller for the web (5) guided between the rubber blanket cylinders (3, 4), in that in the recto-verso mode the drive for the plate/rubber-blanket cylinders (1, 3; 2, 4) is applied by the main drive (6, 7) via a gear wheel (8) to a plate cylinder (1), in that the impression cylinder (10) is driven by the main drive (8, 7) via a further gear wheel (9), and in that in the insert print mode the rubber blanket cylinder drive shafts (11, 12) can optionally be connected to a further drive gear wheel (2'' or 4'') by couplings (13, 14) when the rubber blanket cylinder drive wheels (2', 4') are moved out of engagement, in that the two gear wheels (2'', 4'') are connected to the drive wheel (10') of the impression cylinder (10) and in that the drive gear wheel (8) for the plate cylinder (1) is out of engagement with the gear wheel (7') of the main drive (6, 7).
