PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct any oblique transfer of documents being transferred in a switchback manner by a switchback feeder part reliably.
SOLUTION: Over a U-feeder part 41, a switchback feeder part 42 is disposed for inverting documents of paper P in relation to a document reader part 6 in a switchback manner. At the point at which a third feed path 413 in the U-feeder part 41 and an eighth feed path 423 in the switchback feeder part 42 meet each other, an upper feed roller pair 417 is disposed. Documents P at the switchback feeder part 42 are once delivered out into a document stacker part 2 and then back therefrom in the counter direction for a switchback process. The upper feed roller pair 417 assists such document feed for single-sided document reading, and works as a register roller pair or corrects the obliquity of documents P after such a switchback process supplied thereto from the switchback feeder part 42 for double-sided document reading. The registering action of the upper feed roller pair 417 corrects the obliquity of the documents P after the switchback process with reliability.
