CONSTITUTION: The press contact force for a normal revolution assorting roller 55 of a reverse revolution assorting roller 56 is applied by a coil spring 84 through a supporting plate 81, supporting shaft 82, and a lever 83. The press contact force N1 for the time from the paper feed to the application of resistance by a resistor roller 58 is set to a proper pressure for separating a paper sheet for the transport speed v1 by the normal revolution assorting roller 55. After the application of resistance, the paper sheet is transported at a high speed v2 by the resistor roller 58 and since a solenoid SL is turned OFF at this time, an adjusting lever 85 regulates the lever 83, and the press-contact force for the roller 55 of the roller 56 is weakened. At this time, the press- contact force N2 is a proper pressure for separating the sheet transported at a speed v2.
