This device is provided with control parts 100 and 200 having stop means 103 and 200 for stopping operation after paper sheets are counted as paper sheets of a designated kind by counting means 101 and 206 even when paper sheets fed out of a stacker part 11 are identified as paper sheets out of designation by identification means (S1-S4, MH and 112), subtraction means 56, 104 and 200 for subtracting '1' from a count value when there is an entry for confirming the kind out of the relevant designation after stop and a restart means 105 for restarting the counting operation after the subtracting operation when there is the entry for confirming the kind out of the designation and restarting the counting operation without operating the subtraction means when there is an entry for confirming the designated kind of the paper sheets identified as paper sheets of a kind out of the designation.
